The Florida Association of Professional Geologists (FAPG) serves as the leading voice for geologists in Florida’s policy landscape. Our mission includes protecting professional licensure, ensuring geologists have representation in environmental and infrastructure policy, and promoting the economic and societal value of geoscience across the state.
Through direct engagement with legislators, regulatory agencies, and allied organizations, FAPG advocates for policies that recognize the essential role of geology in safeguarding Florida’s people, natural resources, and built environment.
FAPG’s advocacy efforts are supported by the Florida Geologists Political Committee (FGPC), a registered political committee dedicated to advancing sound science-based policy and defending professional standards within the field of geology.
With the support of FGPC, we are able to:
Monitor and influence state legislation that affects geologists and environmental protections
Provide expert testimony before legislative committees and regulatory boards
Organize Lobby Day, stakeholder meetings, and coordinated advocacy campaigns
Build relationships with lawmakers who value scientific integrity and public safety
Respond quickly and effectively to any legislative threat to licensure or public interest protections
