FAPG Student Scholarship – Coming Soon

The Florida Association of Professional Geologists (FAPG) is currently developing a scholarship program to support Florida-based students pursuing degrees in the geosciences. This scholarship will provide financial assistance, increase access to professional opportunities, and help foster the next generation of licensed geologists in Florida.

AIPG National Undergraduate Scholarship

While the FAPG scholarship is in development, students are encouraged to apply for the AIPG National Undergraduate Scholarship, awarded annually by the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG).

Application Deadline: February 1

Award Amount: $1,000 – $3,000

This scholarship is open to undergraduate geological sciences majors (sophomore level and above) attending accredited U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants must be AIPG student members (membership is free) or have applied for membership at the time of submission.

Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter discussing academic and extracurricular experience, goals, and community involvement

  • 800-word essay: “Why I Want to be a Geologist”

  • Unofficial transcript and proof of enrollment

  • Letter of recommendation from a geology/geoscience professor

  • Portrait photo for publication

Foundation of AIPG William J. Siok Graduate Scholarship

Graduate students are encouraged to apply for the William J. Siok Graduate Scholarship, offered by the Foundation of AIPG to support graduate education and encourage professional engagement.

Application Deadline: February 1

Award Amount: $5,000

This scholarship is open to graduate students enrolled in an accredited U.S. geoscience program. Applicants must be student members of AIPG (membership is free).

Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter highlighting academic, research, and community involvement

  • 750-word essay on: “What will be the most important contribution that geology and geologists will make in the next quarter century? Please address the place of competence, ethics, and integrity.”

  • Unofficial transcript and proof of enrollment (minimum 2.8 GPA overall; 3.0 in geoscience coursework)

  • Letter of recommendation from a geology faculty member

  • Portrait photo for publication

Scholarship winners will have their essays published in The Professional Geologist (TPG).
